Our company is looking for a new Sheet Metal Foreman/Mechanic to help us with a variety of construction projects. In this role, you primarily work on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, with a focus on ductwork. You are responsible for prefabricating certain portions of the ducting, but you also do much of the duct installation on-site with power and hand tools. Our ideal candidate has experience with sheet metal, whether on a construction site or on an assembly line. You should also have completed an apprenticeship or a technical school program.
Sheet Metal Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee all aspects of sheet metal work on construction projects, including planning, coordination, and execution.
• Coordinate and supervise the activities of sheet metal workers and subcontractors, ensuring that tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other construction professionals to develop and implement project plans and schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of all sheet metal work performed, including materials used, labor hours, and any changes or modifications to project plans.
• Proven experience in self-performing sheet metal work, with a strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and installation techniques.
• Physical stamina and dexterity, with the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and to lift and carry heavy objects as needed.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, submittals, and job orders as needed for project.
• Evaluate Mechanics and workers abilities and expertise to ensure the most productive job placement. Advise less specialized workers on the site.
• Study schedules and estimate man-hour requirements for completion of job.
• Strong understanding of SMACNA, Florida Building and AHCA codes.
• Adept working with coordinated shop drawings from BIM as well as remodel projects with only contract drawings.
• Attends, as needed, all job site and office meetings related to assigned tasks
• Install ductwork for new HVAC construction projects
• Repair existing systems
• Test and examine systems for quality
• Extensive knowledge of all HVAC duct systems installation
• Lay out and install product as a mechanic.
• Communicate and work effectively with other departments within the company, General Contractors Construction Managers, owners, subcontractors and other trades
• Understand airflow, CFM’s, and able to use a “Ductulator”
Sheet Metal Mechanic Requirements and Qualifications
• Technical school certificate or completed apprenticeship
• Experience with sheet metal and a variety of tools
• Manual dexterity and physical stamina
• Construction experience
• A valid and clean driver's license
• Experience in Sheet Metal Shop a plus
• Physical Requirements: Physical activities of walking and lifting of 50 lbs. is required.
Schedule:
• 8 hour minimum shift - 7am-3:30pm
• Monday to Friday
• Direct Report to Mechanical Project Manager
• Pay Range: Up to $36 based on experience and knowledge
