Electrician - Apprentice
Position Summary:
Position is responsible for providing a variety of skilled electrical work related to the maintenance, repair and installation, preventative maintenance and service calls.

**This position has been classified as Safety Sensitive in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act and/or the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Board Policy G-37-R3 Medical Marijuana & SafetySensitive Positions Regulation. All candidates selected for hire or transferred into a Safety Sensitive position must undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen before being hired or transferred. Employees holding safety-sensitive positions may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.**

Essential Duties:
  • Assists with general electric work including installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Assists with installs of new wiring, motors, generators, electrical fixtures, pumps, valves, dials, gauges and other apparatus, and maintains and repairs lines.
  • Assists with plans and lays out work, develop cost estimates, and identify/order required materials.
  • Assists with or installs and maintain time clocks, program clocks, and fire alarm systems.
  • Communicates effectively with all OKCPS personnel, students and visitors.
  • Promotes the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities of other members of the Department during peak periods or when there is an overload of duties.
  • Participates in the safety meetings, training and development.
  • Drives district owned vehicles to assigned sites
  • Core work schedule may change due to operational needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Possession of a valid operator's driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined to meet district motor vehicle insurance coverage requirements.
  • One (1) year in an electrical support role, with a technical aptitude to perform maintenance, service, and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Knowledgeable of current city codes, jobsite safety, NEC and EPA regulations.
  • Ability to learn and perform routine preventative maintenance.
  • Must have experience or general knowledge of electrical trade and willingness to learn all phases (i.e. general knowledge of practices, wiring diagrams, schematics, tools and terminology of electrical trade.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to obtain, or in possession of, state Apprentice license (meeting all of the requirements to do so as dictated by Oklahoma Construction Industries Board.
  • Trade school course work, apprenticeship program, or applied job experience which provides the required knowledge preferred.
