Operator Apprentice is our name for full-time Assistant Managers that lead the store and off premise team alongside the General Manager. The key focus areas of this role are tied to developing your capacity to deliver a World Class Customer and Employee Experience through your actions, to develop and build the Best team possible for your scoop shop through the proper selection, integration, and training processes, and provide you the detailed mentorship, development plan, knowledge base, and support to ensure you fully understand what it takes to deliver on our expectations to Achieve Excellence in our scoop shops as we prepare you in your development journey for more responsibility.

The Operator Apprentice will be responsible for leading shifts in and out of the shop, exemplifying world class customer service, performing all executive functions while also focused on their personal and professional developmental growth. Operator Apprentices are leaders in their business and are accountable for coaching and leading while becoming proven executors of all daily business service operations and functions.

The Operator Apprentice will report directly into a Business Operations Manager, General Manager or GM of Retail Operations and their training will be specialized around daily in-store and out-of-store operational functions with an additional focus on leading, management core competencies, and core mid level leader accountabilities.

Accountabilities of a Operator Apprentice’s:

  • Full time presence with open availability, which includes nights, weekends and holidays
  • Assist the General Manager with the business plan for the scoop shop including sales targets, margin goals, payroll, operating costs, occupancy expenses, and inventory and cost of goods management execution
  • Participate in all processes to sustain the proper staff levels to operate the business while supporting the integration, training, development and record keeping for each team members journey
  • Influence a motivating work environment that actively encourages and supports employee involvement with an eye towards possible job advancement that is aligned with each team members aspirational goals
  • Coach and lead the team to the importance of all store policies, procedures, and standards
  • Follow all systems and procedures outlined in our Operating System Manual to ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions
  • Learn what full accountability for the weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reporting requirements entails, which includes recording department sales, department cost of goods, and payroll analysis
  • Manage the procurement all orders for accuracy and organization and proper storage of all on-site inventories
  • Execute and manage the in-store marketing plan & assist with local store marketing as outlined by General Manager of Retail Store Operations or Franchisee
  • Supervise and organize the day to day tasks needed to maintain the overall operations including store and staff appearance, customer service expectations, cleanliness, compliance with all safety and operating standards, merchandising, and promotional execution
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external customers, contractors, and suppliers
  • Ensure the team is well trained on the maintenance and safe operation of all equipment within the scoop shop
  • Create a Culture of Performance and Development for the team while mentoring those you lead
  • Serve as a beacon for Community Service in the community your store is located in
  • Be an active participant with Off-Premise functions and vending operations (football, basketball, festivals, etc.)
