Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to give the participant a working knowledge of an accounting department as a practical application of what they have learned in a classroom setting, while assisting the company in daily activities. We have an excellent opportunity for a bright, self-motivated and high-energy Internship candidate to gain valuable, practical knowledge of Accounting and Finance. Under direct supervision, you may assist with accounting operation, Internal Controls, and other ad hoc financial analysis.

You will have opportunities to prepare process documents, interact with other personnel, and participate in financial reporting preparation process. Position Responsibilities:

Day-to-day activities (90%)

  • The candidate will work closely with various accounting professionals and understand their process and support their process document coordination / standardization.
  • The candidate may coordinate and support various types of accounting entries.
  • The candidate may support project based financial analysis and reconciliation of activities.
  • The candidates will/can also support ad hoc general accounting functions.

Qualifications / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in an Accounting or Finance degree program, having completed intermediate accounting and achieved junior or senior standing.
  • Possess an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Required:

  • Highly self-motivated with a desire to learn.
  • Knowledge of standard accounting processes, and regulations.
  • Basic data entry and/or word processing skills.
  • Knowledge of mathematics.
  • Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to utilize an automated accounting system.
  • Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Must be proficient with MS Excel and MS Word

Travel Required:

  • 0% travel required

Citizenship:

  • U.S. Citizenship

Nature of Contacts:

  • Moderate Communication on a daily basis with internal parties only.

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves
  • Standing: able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and outside areas including uneven surfaces.
